My wife and I had a most wonderful experience at this incredible hotel which is steeped in amazing history. We took a trip round the Arboretum brilliantly described with an explanation of the many beautiful and unusual as well as rare trees, by Andrew Beale one of the family whose involvement with the lodge goes back 8 generations! I highly recommend this hotel for such a lovely experience….
The Beale Arboretum is situated at West Lodge Park Hotel in North London.
The Beale Arboretum, an integral part of West Lodge Park, traces its origins back to 1963 when Edward Beale, with the help of Frank Knight, Director of RHS Wisley, and Derek Honour, Trees Consultant for the GLC, embarked on a journey. Over the past six decades, the Beale family, spanning three generations, has passionately nurtured and expanded this stunning area.
What Our Happy Customers Say
Visited for the Yellow Book Charity Open Garden afternoon when you can enjoy tours of the arboretum with the gardener. Its great to see people who are creating something that is for the future – some of the features will look at their best in 100 years time. Looking especially good in October are the ornamental crab apples on the front lawn, the strawberry tree, the many maples, and the bed with plants from the Bible – including a fruiting pomegranate
We all enjoyed an excellent time at West Lodge Park Hotel with the added bonus of such good weather – blue skies, fluffy white clouds and warm weather. Our party of 14 – 16 all agreed that our accommodation was excellent, the kindness and help shown by all your staff was so very much appreciated and the Bonus was Andrew Beale’s Super Tour of the Arboretum culminating in the Team Planting of our gifted Music Section “Stradivarius” Spruce Tree with it’s special plaque.
